Lower Back Pain rarely has a clear-cut cause
Lower Back Pain
I specialise in treating low back pain, a condition that many people experience at some point in their lives. Most lower back pain doesn’t have a clear-cut cause and so we often refer to it as non-specific low back pain. However, it’s always important to get it checked by your GP or Doctor if you are concerned.
Your lower back pain may have started gradually and overtime become a constant niggle or it may have started as a new or severe event of pain that’s slowly developed into a more chronic or persistent discomfort.
My LBP treatment isn’t just a hands-on session; it’s a holistic approach that integrates several different techniques to provide relief. The hands-on massage work is tailored to alleviate any physical tension in the region.
Understanding that pain is not solely a physical issue, I place a lot of emphasis on calming the nervous system. This is achieved through breathing techniques that help reduce stress and anxiety, which can often be a contributing factor to chronic pain. Alongside this, I use flowing, soft movements that not only feel soothing but also help your body to move more freely and comfortably.
Rather than focusing solely on the back as an isolated problem, I consider your entire well-being. This means taking into account behaviours and beliefs surrounding your pain, as well as considering your whole health eg sleep, hormones or stressors past or present in your life that might be exacerbating your condition.
Together, we explore the psychological and emotional aspects of your pain, recognising that what you’re experiencing is more than just a horrible sensation in your body.
I emphasis a positive and optimistic mindset throughout our sessions. This approach helps to reframe how you perceive pain, shifting the narrative from one of suffering to one of understanding and management.
In essence, pain is not just a physical experience; it’s a complex interaction of emotional and sensory elements. My goal is to address all these aspects, looking at the impact pain is having on you as a whole person, providing a comprehensive and empathetic approach that goes beyond traditional treatment methods.

90 mins: £80
Only 5% of lower back pain has an identifiable cause. During our first session, I will screen to see if you have any signs that suggest a visit to you GP, Doctor or Physio would be recommended.
Every Lower Back Pain (LBP) session starts with me listening to your whole story, how your pain started and how it affects your day to day life.
Techniques we use may include:
Massage Therapy
Breathing Techniques
Body Scanning - noticing where areas of tension lie and learning how to let those areas go. This technique is particularly helpful for using at home between sessions.
Gentle, non-threatening movements - again this is a great technique for use at home between sessions.
Analysis - what can we change or add into your everyday routine that may reduce any stresses that may be triggering or making your pain feel worse.
Please note:
I am not a physiotherapist and can’t diagnose your back pain. I’m also not a counsellor and don’t offer counselling for lower back pain. That said, I know it can be hugely therapeutic for your pain story to be heard and I have very kind ears for listening.
